What You Need to Qualify:

• Be in a real and ongoing relationship with your Australian or New Zealand partner.
• Apply for the visa outside of Australia and be outside Australia when the visa is granted.
• You and your family must follow all Australian laws and visa rules.

What This Visa Lets You Do:

• Live and work in Australia temporarily.
• Study in Australia (but you won’t get government help with fees).
• Join Medicare, Australia’s medical care program.
• Take up to 510 hours of free English classes.
• Travel in and out of Australia as many times as you want.

How Long You Can Stay:

• Until a decision is made on your Permanent Partner visa or if you withdraw your application.
• Usually, this is between 15 to 24 months.
• In some cases, if you have been in a long relationship, you might move directly to a permanent visa.

Including Family:

• You can include family members in your application.
• They must also be outside Australia and meet health and character requirements.
• You can add them after your visa is granted.

Cost:

• For the main applicant: AUD7,715. This fee covers both the temporary and permanent partner visas.

Where to Apply:

• You must be outside Australia when you apply and when the visa is decided.

Processing Time:

• 75% of applications: 17 months.
• 90% of applications: 25 months.
• Make sure to fill out the application correctly and provide all needed documents to avoid delays.

Travel:

• You can travel in and out of Australia as much as you want.
• Make sure to enter Australia for the first time before the date given in your visa letter.

Digital Visa:

• Your visa will be linked to your passport. There is no sticker in your passport.

Visa Conditions:

• 8502: Don’t come to Australia before the main visa holder.
• 8515: Don’t get married or start a de facto relationship before coming to Australia.
